Colorado troopers are searching for a man this morning who bolted from a traffic stop, rolled his car and then ran into a cornfield southwest of Greeley.
The man, described as being slender and 5-feet-10 tall, was allegedly speeding on Weld County Road 27-1/2 at 7:40 a.m. when he was pulled over, said Sgt. John Hahn, Colorado State Patrol spokesman.
When a trooper began asking the man questions, the suspect put his car into gear and sped off, Hahn said. The trooper followed the suspect for about a mile when the man rolled his car into an irrigation ditch, he said.
The man pulled himself out of the car and ran into a cornfield and disappeared, Hahn said.
“There is no indication the car is stolen,” he said.
Several law enforcement agencies are currently involved in a search, Hahn said.
Authorities have a tentative indication of who the suspect may be, he said.
