NEW YORK — Yankees pitcher Chien-Ming Wang left Saturday’s game against the Blue Jays because of a strained right shoulder, putting his next start in jeopardy.
Wang allowed four runs and six hits before he was replaced in the sixth inning. Wang, who missed time this season because of weakness in the adductor muscles in his hips, went for an MRI that revealed the shoulder strain and bursitis.
“It was unfortunate, because I thought today was his best start,” said manager Joe Girardi.

The Blue Jays placed right-hander Scott Richmond on the 15-day disabled list with a sore shoulder. Left-hander Brett Cecil moved up to take Richmond’s spot today against New York, and Brad Mills will be called up from Triple-A Las Vegas to start Tuesday at Tampa Bay.
• The Indians activated recently acquired right-hander Winston Abreu and designated Matt Herges for assignment. Abreu, acquired Thursday from the Rays, is the 26th pitcher to appear on Cleveland’s active roster this season.
• Padres catcher Henry Blanco will be put on the disabled list after straining his right hamstring against the Dodgers.
• Right-hander Jesus Colome has been designated for assignment by the Nationals.
