LONDON — It was not such a lucky break. Opera singer Joyce DiDonato performed in a wheelchair after breaking her leg during an earlier show.
Royal Opera House spokesman Christopher Mil lard said DiDonato was singing Tuesday night in “The Barber of Seville” from a spot visible to the audience but that another actor was acting out her role on the stage. The singer slipped during opening night Saturday. She finished her role as the heroine, Rosina, on a crutch and was taken to the hospital for what turned out to be a broken right leg.
Millard says she plans to continue performing. The Associated Press
