GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—State Sen. Josh Penry of Grand Junction says he’ll announce Saturday whether he will run for governor next year.

The Republican from Grand Junction will announce his decision 9 a.m. Saturday in front of the old Mesa County Courthouse. The state Senate minority leader will be joined his wife, Jamie, and their children.

If Penry runs, he’ll face former congressman Scott McInnis in the GOP primary. Penry worked as an aide to McInnis in Washington.

McInnis and Evergreen businessman Dan Maes are the only official Republican candidates so far.

Democratic Gov. Bill Ritter is seeking a second term.
