GREELEY, Colo.—Organizers of the Greeley Stampede rodeo say it looks like attendance declined this year, probably because of wet weather and the recession.
Mark Reinert, general manager of the Stampede committee, said Monday that final attendance figures won’t be available for a week or two.
Last year’s attendance was estimated at about 325,000.
Reinert says rainy weather was probably a bigger factor in this year’s attendance than the recession. He says similar rodeos elsewhere have done well if the weather was good.
Hal Ginsberg, who runs a barbecue stand at the Stampede, says his revenues were off 40 percent this year. Other food vendors reported similar declines.
The Stampede began June 24 and ended Sunday.
