Layoffs continue at local TV newsrooms, the latest at Fox affilate KDVR-Channel 31.
Chris Dunn, veteran chief meteorologist for KDVR-Channel 31, was among six staff members dismissed by the station yesterday in the latest round of budget cuts.
Dunn, a long-serving member of the Fox31 team, currently is nominated for multiple regional Emmys in the upcoming annual Heartland Chapter awards.
Also pink-slipped were reporters Audra Ensign and Charlie Brennan, and three photographers and production staff members. The six positions were eliminated due to the “budgetary/economic situation,” according to Dennis Leonard, VP and general manager of the combined KDVR and KWGN, who expressed regret at “having to cut while trying to build. That’s not what I came to Denver to do,” he said.
Dave Fraser, KWGN meteorologist, expands his duties to cover weather for both stations.
