SCHOOL SPENDING
LINCOLN—A short letter from Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman calling for higher salaries for teachers is creating a long list of concerns among school officials, while teachers are cheering both its content and timing. Groups representing school board members and school administrators are scheduled to meet with Heineman on Tuesday in the Governor’s Mansion to discuss the letter and try to persuade him to soften what appears to be a hard stance on teacher pay. LINCOLN—A Lincoln man says his pilot daughter was attempting an aggressive maneuver, but he doesn’t know what caused her plane to crash during practice for an air show in northwest Missouri. Harry Barr says Chandy Clanton died in the Friday crash that authorities said happened in a bean field east of Tarkio near U.S. Highway 136. She was 36. Eds: Will be led.

HASTINGS—Glue, glue and more glue was the order of the week for five campers at the Hastings Museum of Natural and Cultural History, in a class called Radical Rockets.
