Charles Barkley goes into the 20th annual Lake Tahoe Celebrity Golf Championship at the bottom of the tote board. He doesn’t expect to make it onto the leaderboard, either. “Let’s be realistic,” said Barkley, a 499-1 longshot to win the 75-player tournament. “There’s probably five to 10 guys who have a legitimate shot at winning this thing.” One of those guys is Broncos great John Elway, whose best finish is a fourth-place tie with Rick Rhoden in 1998. Rhoden, a former major-league pitcher and the tournament’s defending champion, is the 9-5 favorite to win his eighth title.
