ENGLEWOOD, Colo.—Only one still camera and one video camera will be allowed in court when a man accused in the 2005 disappearance of his daughter stands trial Aug. 3.

And reporters won’t be allowed to blog, tweet or e-mail from the courtroom while court is in session during the trial of Aaron Thompson, charged with fatal child abuse in the disappearance of his daughter Aarone. The girl is presumed dead.

Arapahoe County District Judge Valeria Spencer issued the guidelines Friday night in response to requests from Denver television and radio stations, The Denver Post and The Associated Press to record and photograph the proceedings.

Spencer’s order says the media will have to designate one representative each to photograph and videotape the opening and closing arguments, the verdict and—if necessary—the sentencing.

No cameras will be allowed in the courtroom during the rest of the trial, and no images of child witnesses will be allowed.
