BOULDER, Colo.—Three University of Colorado students are among the 1,100 U.S. students and professionals selected as Fulbright scholars.

Nicole Nejad, Alexander Barker, and Abby Watrous were awarded the honor through the U.S. Department of State’s exchange program.

The school said that Nejad, a recent CU grad, will study the health effects of genetically modified soy in Paraguay.

Watrous, a civil engineering doctoral degree candidate, will study renewable energies in China. Barker, a doctoral degree candidate in mechanical engineering/bioengineering will travel to Germany to study MRI techniques for blood flow to develop tools to improve heart function and health.

CU’s Boulder campus has had 105 Fulbright award winners since 1977.
