A Chaffee County mobile home park was evacuated for several hours before dawn early this morning as a bomb squad searched a resident’s trailer.
The man’s name was not immediately available from the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Department and the Colorado State Patrol, which investigated.
No bombs were found in the mobile home and residents of the trailer park were allowed to go home just after daylight.
The case began with a traffic stop southwest of Buena Vista just before 10 p.m. Saturday night.
The stop yielded drugs, but as a state trooper searched the vehicle he found a single pipe bomb, said Trooper Ryan Sullivan, a spokesman for the Colorado State Patrol.
The case is still under investigation, but Sullivan said the man will be charged with the original traffic offense, as well as possession of drugs and explosives.
Sullivan said he did not have information on the drug and traffic charges.
A spokesman for the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Department said the agency would not be releasing any information about the case today.
