BERTHOUD — Authorities identified a 57-year-old Littleton man who died after being thrown from his motorbike at a dirt track near Berthoud as Jerry Penney.
Weld County sheriff’s spokesman Shane Scofield says Penney might have been thrown from his motorbike during a jump Saturday afternoon. Authorities said Penney was wearing a helmet at the time.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident Saturday was the second recent biking fatality at the Valley Dirt Riders Track near Berthoud, about 45 miles north of Denver. Anthony Hayes, 25, of Evans died Monday from injuries he suffered in a crash July 25.
