Getting your player ready...

Steve Martin has lately been known more for his banjo music than his comedy, a late-career shift that shouldn’t surprise fans of the versatile performer. Martin has been picking the banjo for decades, but we’ve only recently taken notice — thanks in part to “The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo,” which proved he could hold his own against legends such as Dolly Parton and Earl Scruggs. His fall tour with the Steep Canyon Rangers is your chance to get a firsthand look at his bluegrass skills. Tickets for his Oct. 24 Paramount Theatre show are on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($35-$75, TicketHorse) Roger Daltrey’s “Use It or Lose It” tour, his first solo outing since 1985, will include a healthy mix of Who classics, solo songs and covers of his favorite artists. Tickets for the Oct. 20 Paramount show are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($49.50-$69.50, TicketHorse) Ray LaMontagne will bring his soulful songs to the Ellie Caulkins Opera House on Nov. 17. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($30-$45, Ticketmaster) Mastodon has performed music for cartoons — most notoriously its brilliant intro to the “Aqua Teen Hunger Force” movie — so it’s no surprise the band is co-headlining Adult Swim’s latest outing of Dethklok, the fictional band on the network’s “Metalocalypse.” Tickets for the Oct. 10 Fillmore show with Converge and High on Fire are on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($34.50, ) Brand New’s punk-pop will ring out at the Fillmore on Oct. 8, with guests Manchester Orchestra. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Monday. ($25- $28, ) David Gray, he of the lilting, immaculately crisp electro-acoustic pop, will stop by the Paramount on Nov. 1 with Lisa Hannigan. Expect songs from his latest disc, “Draw the Line,” which drops Sept. 22, as well as radio staples like “Babylon.” Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($43.50-$50, TicketHorse) Keb’ Mo’ also plays the Paramount this fall, bringing his updated twist on Delta blues in advance of his latest disc. Tickets for the Nov. 17 concert are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($32.50- $49.50, TicketHorse) Patton Oswalt, a ubiquitous TV presence (“The King of Queens,” “Reno 911!”) and the creator of the Comedians of Comedy tours (with Zach Galifianakis and others), will play the Boulder Theater on Oct. 3 — soon after the release of his new album, “My Weakness Is Strong.” Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($29.50-$32.50, ) Bassnectar plans to bring its dance-friendly tunes to a Halloween show at the Fillmore on Oct. 31. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($25-430, )
