Outfitted for school
Clothes to Kids of Denver plans to outfit some 250 kids this month, providing needy children with tops, bottoms, underwear, socks, shoes and a jacket. They’re in need of separates since they give each child five tops and four bottoms, says president Joyce Meyers. If you’re cleaning out closets, bring items your kids have outgrown to the store, from 12-3 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. (Call first: 720-379-4630) Or pick up extras when shopping with your children (styles above by Tony Hawk for Kohl’s). CTK also accepts financial donations and is looking for volunteers. Clothes to Kids Denver, at 2890 S. Colorado Blvd., Unit 15-P, is open by appointment and referral only; .

The Porkchop Show and Joy Barrett of Studio Bead on Friday host “Beads, Braids & Bows,” an event inspired by Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. They’re creating a “Mexi-marketplace” of jewelry, painting, folk art, mixed media, cards and home decor from a dozen artists. Attractions include a shrine exhibit of 12 assemblages, and an art-vending machine that for $10 dispenses a bubble containing a hand-crafted item. (Turquoise and coral necklace at left made by Joybead.)
6-10 p.m. The Porkchop Studio, 4519 W. 39th Ave., .
