Indonesia’s government has decided to buy a 14 percent stake in a unit of Denver-based Newmont Mining Corp., Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said.
The government will coordinate with local administrations where Newmont’s unit operates to buy the shares, Sri Mulyani told reporters in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The government will purchase the stakes that the company was required to divest in 2008 and 2009, she said.
