A Denver grand jury returned a nine-count indictment Wednesday against a mortgage broker accused of scamming borrowers, investors and financial institutions.

The indictment alleges Kedrick McDuffie, owner of Superior Mortgage Co. LLC, promised distressed homeowners that he could save their homes from foreclosure by having their original loans refinanced or taken over by another person.

The charges also allege that McDuffie sold the homes to private investors without the owners’ knowledge.

An arrest warrant has been issued for McDuffie, who is at large. His bail has been set at $100,000.
