Getting your player ready...

Denver Post preps writer Jon E. Yunt takes a look at the boys golf season, which starts today:

CLASS 5A: The team race is wide open, with the Continental League heading the field. Regis gets the early nod as favorite, but defending champion Douglas County (with last year’s runner-up Cody Kent, who finished six shots behind teammate Derek Fribbs) and Highlands Ranch figure to be in the mix.

CLASS 4A: Likely challengers to the loaded Valor Christian team include Highlands Ranch neighbor Rock Canyon and Lewis-Palmer. The Rangers, who finished tied for fourth last season, return three of their top four players.

CLASS 3A: Bad news for the field: defending champion Kent Denver may be as deep as it’s been in years and the talent is young. The Sun Devils will get an up-close look at their nearest competition all season in Metropolitan League archrival Holy Family.
