LINCOLN, Neb.—The question of who will back up Nebraska’s presumptive starting quarterback Zac Lee has taken another turn with news that Kody Spano has reinjured an already tender knee.

Spano tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during practice on Tuesday during a noncontact running drill. It’s the same injury the redshirt freshman quarterback suffered during spring practice. Coaches say Spano is out for the 2009 season.

The focus now turns to three other backups: true freshmen Cody Green and Taylor Martinez and junior Latravis Washington, who played linebacker until switching to quarterback in April.

Coach Bo Pelini says walk-on Ron Kellogg Jr. from Omaha has also been brought in as a backup.
