A license plate left at the scene of a hit-and-run this afternoon led state troopers to the home of a man they say is responsible for hospitalizing a bicyclist while driving drunk.
The cyclist was taken to St. Anthony Central Hospital with serious injuries sustained in the accident near Interstate 70’s Evergreen exit.
Troopers received the call at 4:38 p.m. after the driver allegedly fled the scene, leaving behind pieces of his Lexus including the license plate.
Eastbound I-70 traffic was briefly shutdown Sunday afternoon.
The suspect was apprehended at his home, tested for blood alcohol content and will remain in custody in Jefferson County Jail, according to Colorado State Patrol spokesman Trooper David Hall.
Troopers are not yet releasing the names of the cyclist or the driver.
