Coal Creek Canyon resident Gary L. David, 58, fatally shot himself in the head when he was taking apart an assault rifle Tuesday night, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Department said today.
There is no indication of foul play, investigators said. David was alone inside his garage on Crescent Lake Road at about 8:40 p.m., when the shooting was reported.
Evidence indicated he had begun to take the rifle apart when it fired, according to Sheriff’s Department.
