DENVER—A day after Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter announced $320 million in spending cuts, a legislative committee is meeting to find a permanent fix to the state’s chronic budget problems.

Wednesday’s meeting will focus on what investments are important to Colorado, how much they will cost and how the state will support those priorities.

The chairman, Democratic state Sen. Rollie Heath of Boulder, says he wants to hear from Coloradans about what they want for the future and how to get there.
