Broomfield police today arrested a 27-year-old Denver man in connection with a high-profile shoplifting incident at the FlatIron Marketplace Best Buy on Aug. 1.

Brett Boyles was arrested at his home and faces aggravated robbery and second-degree assault. He is accused of cutting a store manager on the finger as he tussled with two employees outside the store.

Boyles has a lengthy arrest record in Denver, Boulder, Broomfield and Adams counties, including theft, drunken-driving, burglary, robber, menacing and assault charges.

On Sunday, Best Buy fired the two employees, Jared Bergstreser, 20, and Colin Trapp, 23, for violating the company police against pursuing shoplifters outside the store.

Bergstreser tackled the shoplifter and Trapp rushed out to assist, before the man pulled a knife. A female manager came outside and was cut on the finger as the man swung the knife wildly.

Police said the thief attempted to take computer hard drives and other small items, but Bergstreser said cell phones were taken.

Several media outlets, including The Post, reported on the pair’s firing this week.
