A couple wanted by Aurora police as suspects in a robbery are in custody in Florida and awaiting extradition, police said.
Enrique Coreano Jr., 25, and Julie Karina Sanchez, 22, are being held in Hendry County, Fla., as suspects in a robbery of a check-cashing business in the 10300 block of East Colfax Avenue, said Bob Friel, an Aurora police spokesman.
On July 17, just after 11 p.m., an alarm at the business summoned police, and officers found a victim who had been bound and stabbed with a pair of scissors, Friel said.
The victim survived the attack but the robbers fled the business with a “substantial amount” of money, Friel said.
Aurora detectives working the case identified Coreano and Sanchez as suspects, Friel said, and a fugitive team tracked the couple to Florida.
The pair were arrested Aug. 5 and are being held at the Hendry County Jail.
Coreano faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated robbery, theft, assault and conspiracy, Friel said.
Sanchez faces charges of robbery, theft and conspiracy.
