BOULDER — Police say a dachshund puppy awaiting adoption at a Humane Society shelter in Boulder was stolen by three people after they were told they couldn’t meet any animals.

The theft happened Aug. 12 when two men and a woman visited the shelter just before closing time. They were told it was too late to see any animals, and then shortly after, they sped away in a four-door green sedan.

Shelter workers later noticed the missing puppy, named Ferris, valued at $250. Police released video surveillance of the trio in hopes of finding the dognappers. One frame shows a white woman with blond hair carrying Ferris.

Anyone with information about these suspects or the whereabouts of the puppy is asked to contact Boulder police at 303-441-3333. Those with information who wish to remain anonymous should contact Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477) or 800-444-3776.
