GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—The Bureau of Land Management office in Glenwood Springs, one of the agency’s busiest when the energy boom was at its peak, is moving to Silt.
The new location, 20 miles west of Glenwood Springs, is closer to the center of the natural gas drilling that’s kept the western Colorado BLM office so busy the past few years. But BLM spokesman David Boyd says the move to Silt was prompted by a need to expand, not the desire to be closer to energy development.
Boyd says it was hard to find a big enough space at the right price in Glenwood Springs.
The office will be closed Sept. 1-8 during the move. The new BLM office house between 60 and 70 people and will oversee several counties.
