A Wyoming trucker blamed for an asphalt spill into the Cache la Poudre River in northern Colorado has been cited for careless driving.
The Colorado State Patrol said 52- year-old Kenneth Gale of Rawlins, Wyo., suffered minor injuries in the Wednesday morning accident. About 5,000 gallons of the asphalt spilled into the river in the Roosevelt National Forest.
The spill caused the city of Fort Collins to halt water collection from the river, moving its intake to a reservoir. City and environmental officials were surveying the spill Wednesday to gauge the damage.
