Shopaholic’s holiday
Two events today will appeal to fans of secondhand shopping. Both take place in alluring neighborhoods and promise to include eclectic finds. One is the LoDo No-Garage Garage Sale happening from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the corner of 15th and Wynkoop streets. Expect to see “recycled relics and urban treasures from downtown lofts and condos” in this sale that will be followed by a community block party. Another shopping event worth noting is “Street Fair and Treasure Alley,” a giant rummage sale happening today inGenesee from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event benefits Blue Spruce Habitat for Humanity. The entire foothills community donates artwork, household items, sports and outdoor equipment, toys and more for this sale happening in the Vista Clubhouse parking lot, 24425 Current Drive, Golden. Follow signs from exit 256 off of Interstate 70.
Conservation collective
The 2009 Colorado Renewable Energy Conference is today through Monday at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden. The theme of the event is “Clean Energy: Pathways to a Low-Carbon Footprint.” It includes workshops, tours of advanced-energy facilities in Golden, an exhibit hall and more. Today’s keynote session featuring Eric Barron, director of the National Center for Atmospheric Research, and the exhibit hall are free. Silver anniversary celebration
The Poudre Landmarks Foundation in Fort Collins is ramping up to celebrate 25 years of annual house tours. First, the “Silver Soiree” is a gala from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Edwards House, 402 W. Mountain Ave. The cost is $30; registration deadline is Sept. 8. Then, the 25th annual Historic Homes Tour is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 12. It includes five historic homes, one bonus house now under construction, and the three historic sites administered by the Poudre Landmarks Foundation. Cost is $20 in advance and $25 on tour day.
