DENVER—The first Bureau of Land Management projects in Colorado to receive federal stimulus dollars will be in the Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area in western Colorado.

The BLM has awarded $60,000 to the Colorado Youth Corps Association for trail maintenance, construction and restoration in the conservation area 50 miles south of Grand Junction.

Another $35,000 will go to Bicycle Colorado to design and start planning a trail system. The Colorado Youth Corps Association will start building the trail system when the plan is finished, expected next spring.

Overall, the Colorado BLM office will receive $20.7 million in stimulus funds for 103 projects across the state.
