BOSTON — The race for the U.S. Senate seat left vacant by Edward Kennedy’s death last week got off to a cautious start Tuesday. Just one leading possibility — state Attorney General Martha Coakley — took out nomination papers. An aide declined comment. Other possible contenders held back, in part, to see whether a Kennedy family member might decide to enter the race.
