NEW YORK — The largest U.S. school district said Tuesday it will offer free swine-flu vaccinations to its 1 million-plus schoolchildren as the city takes bold steps to avoid becoming a flu epicenter again this fall. New York officials said the vaccine would mostly be given through a mist in the nose rather than by injection.
