Southwest Airlines will temporarily halt three round-trip flights out of Denver early next year as it cuts back service on 92 routes throughout its system.
From Jan. 9 through March 12, the number of daily flights between Denver and Las Vegas will be cut from nine to eight, between Denver and San Francisco from four to three and between Denver and Seattle from three to two.
Southwest spokesman Chris Mainz said Tuesday the adjustments are part of “optimization” of service, particularly in a typically slow travel period.
Dallas-based Southwest, the third-largest airline at Denver International Airport, operates about 3,200 daily flights. It expects a capacity reduction of about 5 percent systemwide this year.
“This won’t have an impact on staffing,” Mainz said.
