TAMPA, Fla. — Free-agent left wing Alex Tanguay has signed a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Financial terms were unavailable.
The veteran of 659 NHL games with Colorado, Calgary and Montreal finalized the deal after passing a physical Tuesday. He had 16 goals and 41 points in 50 games for the Canadiens last season.
Tanguay has 193 goals and 580 points in nine seasons. He was the Avs’ first-round draft choice in 1998 and was an all-star in 2004.

Veteran Sabres forward Adam Mair will miss the start of the regular season after having hip surgery. He will miss at least six weeks.
Sharks sign three players.
The San Jose Sharks signed free-agent forward Torrey Mitchell to a three-year deal.
The team also signed restricted free agent forward Brad Staubitz to a one-year contract and center Benn Ferriero to a two-year deal.
