COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—The AVP tour will work with USA Volleyball to pick the American beach volleyball teams for the London Olympics.
The two organizations will work with the USOC to determine a format for the beach volleyball team trials before the 2012 games.
In the past, teams had qualified for the Olympics by playing in international tournaments. Volleyball’s international governing body changed the rules this year to turn the process over to individual countries.
The United States swept the beach volleyball championships in Beijing last summer, with Kerri Walsh and Misty-May Treanor winning the gold and Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser winning the men’s event.
