Downtown Denver drivers will get a bitter taste of street closures and traffic leading up to A Taste of Colorado, which opens today at 11:30 a.m. in Civic Center.

The annual Labor Day weekend festival draws thousands of people for food, drink and entertainment.

Parking will be available throughout downtown, but officials with A Taste of Colorado are encouraging visitors to use light rail and RTD buses or travel by bicycle.

BikeDenver is offering free bicycle parking at two locations, in front of the Colorado History Museum at East 13th Avenue and Lincoln Street and on the northeast corner of Cherokee Street and West 14th Avenue.

All traffic lanes will open by 6 a.m. Tuesday.
