A man in Aurora was shocked with a police Taser then needed CPR shortly before noon today, but authorities have not determined who the man is or why he ran from officers.

Police went to a home in the 4000 block of South Mission Parkway to arrest Markus Alec Gabel, 19, who was wanted on several warrants, said Detective Bob Friel of the Aurora Police Department.

As they arrested Gabel and began to question another man at the home, the man bolted, Friel said. An officer caught him in a canal, where a struggle ensued.

After the man was shocked, cuffed and put in the back of the cruiser he became stiff and unresponsive, Friel said.

The officer sustained a back injury.

Both were hospitalized, but their conditions were not available Thursday evening.

The man has not told police his name.

“We had to go to the hospital and take his prints to try to determine who he is,” Friel said.
