BALTIMORE — Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton returned to Texas on Sunday to get more treatment for a back injury that forced him to miss the weekend series against the Orioles.

Hamilton pinched a nerve in his back Wednesday during a game in Toronto and hasn’t played since. The two-time all-star was given an epidural Thursday and is scheduled to receive a second shot today.

There is no timetable for his return to the Rangers, who open a three-game series in Cleveland today.

“I might play in three weeks,” Hamilton said. “I don’t know. I might not feel better at all.”

The Rangers chose to take a more optimistic view. “He’s still day to day and we hope to have him back for the Cleveland series,” assistant general manager Thad Levine said.
