CHICAGO — Thousands of Oprah Winfrey’s fans gathered on Michigan Avenue to help the talk-show host celebrate her 24th season on the air with a free public taping Tuesday that included performances by the Black Eyed Peas and Jennifer Hudson.
“Hello, Chicago!” Winfrey exclaimed as she greeted the cheering crowd of 21,000 at the taping, which closed the famed downtown street from early Monday through this morning. Harpo Productions, her company, covered costs for police and sanitation at the event. The Associated Press
