The 46-acre Dunraven fire burning 3 miles northwest of Glen Haven has been 80 percent contained and should be fully under control by late tonight, the U.S. Forest Service said today.
Since the fire was reported at 11:39 a.m. Tuesday, dozens of firefighters have fought the blaze, which once threatened as many as 240 homes about a mile west of Glen Haven.
About 100 firefighters are mopping up today.
Dunraven-Glade Road, where firefighting efforts have been centered, is now open to local residents and the general public.
The Dunraven Trailhead and North Fork Trail, which were closed earlier, are now open. The Bulwark Ridge Trail remains closed.
Among those tackling the blaze are firefighters from the U.S. Forest Service, Larimer County Emergency Services, Rocky Mountain National Park, and the Dunraven Fire District, as well as two hotshot crews — Roosevelt and Alpine.
One helicopter also is assisting the crews.
Tammy Williams, spokesperson for the Forest Service, said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
