GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.—The Garfield County coroner will be working without pay for a while after being cited with not keeping up with his required training.
In a letter dated Aug. 13, the Colorado Coroners Standards and Training Board cited Trey Holt with failure to attend 16 hours of in-service training for 2008.
County Attorney Don DeFord told county commissioners Tuesday that they must suspend Holt’s salary until Holt provides documentation that he has completed the required training. Holt’s salary is $44,000 per year.
DeFord says Holt’s tenure in office is not affected.
Holt says he plans to take care of the matter “in the next couple of weeks.”
