LARIMER COUNTY — Two women hiking in Larimer County were accosted by a knife-wielding attacker in a hockey mask Sunday morning but were able to fight him off, according to the sheriff’s department.

One of the women suffered minor cuts to her hands and shoulder, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said. The women used a walking stick to fight the man off about 11 a.m. on the Signal Mountain Trail near the Comanche Peak Wilderness Area.

The man was described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a “husky” build. He wore a “salt-and-pepper” ponytail and gray camouflage clothes.
