State and local authorities are investigating the cause of a Saturday night blaze that burned three businesses and a vacant commercial space in a strip mall south of downtown Montrose.
The fire appears to have begun in The Boys Bakery and spread to a Papa Murphy’s Take ‘n Bake Pizza franchise, the business offices of Developer Resource Inc. and a vacant office, according to the Montrose Daily Press.
The 5-year-old strip mall is located near Ogden Road and South Townsend Avenue.
“The whole thing is basically a loss,” building owner Steve Hill told the Daily Press. He said the loss was insured.
Hill told the paper that a Colorado Bureau of Investigation agent told him that arson was not suspected, but a CBI spokesman could not be immediately reached Sunday
