Two women hiking in Larimer County were accosted by a knife-wielding attacker in a hockey mask this morning, but eventually were able to fight him off, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
He remains at-large. One of the women suffered minor cuts to her hands and shoulder, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said.The women used a walking stick to fight the man off about 11 a.m. on the Signal Mountain Trail near the Comanche Peak Wilderness Area.
Sheriff’s deputies, SWAT members and police dogs searched for the man, and roadblocks and other search efforts were ongoing tonight, according a sheriff’s spokeswoman.
The man was described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a “husky” build. He wore a “salt-and-pepper” ponytail and gray camouflage clothes, according to investigators.
He also may have cuts or scratches from his struggle with the women, they stated.
