The Broncos and their fans tabbed 22 players to the team’s all-time team, including some of the old, some of the new and some of the obvious.
For starters, John Elway beat out Tommy Maddox and others as the choice for quarterback. The Broncos will celebrate the team at halftime on Oct. 11, when Denver hosts the Patriots at Invesco Field.
The Broncos this season are celebrating their 50th anniversary. Fans were asked to vote for the team’s best players at each position.

The second-team offense included: Craig Morton at quarterback, Otis Armstrong and Sammy Winder at running back, Haven Moses and Lionel Taylor at wide receiver, Riley Odoms at tight end, Ken Lanier and Dave Studdard at offensive tackle, Ben Hamilton and Paul Howard at guard and Billy Bryan at center.
The second-team defense: Rulon Jones and Alfred Williams at defensive end, Greg Kragen and Paul Smith at defensive tackle, Al Wilson, Bill Romanowski and D.J. Williams at linebacker, Ray Crockett and Willie Brown at cornerback, and Steve Foley and Goose Gonsoulin at safety.
The second-team specialists: Jim Turner at kicker, Mike Horan at punter, and Billy Thompson at returner.
