A 3-year-old escaped major injury after firing a handgun, and police arrested a woman who was caring for the boy.
The incident happened at about 10 a.m. Tuesday in the 2000 block of Kodiak Drive, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department crime blotter.
The child picked up a loaded revolver, the gun fired and the recoil of the weapon caused a laceration on the boy’s wrist. The round “exited the house” but no one was hit, police said.
Patricia Bustamante, 34, who was “responsible” for the boy, received a summons could possibly be charged with child abuse and neglect, police said.
