Lingering precipitation and falling temperatures could mean snow in the mountains and puddles in the city this week. Today is the last full day of summer.

There was a 40 percent chance of snow mixed with rain in Park, Grand and Summit counties overnight, with temperatures in the mid-30s and lingering chances of snow and rain today and Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service office in Denver.

The metro region, the plains and northeast Colorado have a 60 percent chance of rain today. The highs today won’t get out of the lower 50s, according to the Weather Service.

A 40 percent chance of rain is in the forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, as highs rise to the upper 50s, according to forecasters. Rain is expected to move out of the metro region Thursday and Friday, as highs return to the 70s. The Denver Post
