A Denver police officer injured a knee in a tussle with a drug suspect Monday night, a spokeswoman for the department said.
The officer was taken to a hospital but was expected to be OK, said Detective Leslie Branch-Wise.
No names were released. The assailant is facing numerous charges that hadn’t been finalized, she said.
The man had been pulled over on a traffic stop at East 36th Avenue and Pontiac Street about 6:45 p.m. when the officer found a powder, thought to be cocaine or methamphetamine, in the man’s vehicle, Branch-Wise said.
As the man was being cuffed, he charged the officer. Other officers quickly interceded.
