OMAHA, Neb.—Two men who walked away from the Work Ethic Camp in McCook are in custody in Colorado.

Deb Minardi, in the state probation office, says 20-year-olds Anthony Mattison and Stephen Kaiser were arrested Sunday or Monday in Washington County, Colo. They’re still being held there.

Both men were serving intense supervised probation at the camp. Mattison had been convicted of theft by unlawful taking in Clay and Hall counties; Kaiser, of forging checks in Douglas County.

Minardi says probation violations have been filed against both men.

Warden Barb Lewien says it’s camp policy to notify law enforcement and local media when an inmate disappears from camp, but in this case, the nearest television station—NTV in Kearney—was not notified.
