The New Jersey City women’s soccer team ended a 111-game conference winless streak Saturday by defeating Rutgers-Newark 5-1. The victory was NJCU’s first in the New Jersey Athletic Conference since a 3-2 win over Montclair State on Oct. 6, 1994. NJCU did manage a 1-1 tie against Ramapo in 1995, but had since lost 103 straight conference games. NJCU has had success against nonconference opponents, but had been stymied in the Division III NJAC.
