STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — A Steamboat Springs mom and newborn son are doing fine after she delivered him by herself in a car outside a hospital.
Samantha Youngs, 28, was being driven by her mother to the hospital early Monday, but the labor went faster than either expected. By the time Youngs’ mother could alert staff at the Yampa Valley Medical Center, Youngs had given birth in the front seat of the Subaru parked outside the hospital.
Youngs told the Steamboat Pilot & Today that the birth of her second son was much shorter than for her first child. The boy weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces. Youngs and her baby went home after two days in the hospital. The Associated Press
