NEW YORK — Retail sales for the last two months of the year are expected to post a small increase from last year’s dismal numbers, according to a shopping-center group.

The International Council of Shopping Centers sees an increase of 1 percent in same- store sales in November and December, saying the holidays would show a marked improvement from last year but warning there would be pockets of weakness. The projection excludes Wal-Mart Stores Inc., which stopped reporting monthly results. Shopping-center retail stores are expected to grow 1.8 percent.
